Antique Papier-Mache Dolls

Papier-Mache is a mixed material comprising of paper pieces or pulp, textiles and bound with some kind of glue. Papier Mache is a French word, which literally implies, crunched paper,  chewed paper. Papier mache dolls have been around for a couple of hundred years and were introduced in Germany in the early 1800s. Papier Mache dolls  are relatively rare and popular collectibles. Several china doll makers also made Papier Mache dolls including Kestner.
